LS-WX4.0 Firmware?

Currently have v1.56 FW. Is the 1.60 for this unit too? Updating firmware crases out during "writing" phase. Web setup says 1.56 is most current version

1.60 is the current firmware version for this unit.  What error message are you getting from the updater?

I do not work for Buffalo Technology. My advice is my own and comes from my experience working with the products.

The FW transfers but the writing phase takes a long time then after the progress bar has gone all the way "Coudln't get a response form LS-WXL271 please check a network address of both PC and LS-WXL271 Please disable the firewall function if it working on PC, Updating is aborted"

 

In the web settings despite being on 1.56 I see *** The latest firmware is already installed on your LinkStation. ***

Hmm, strange, after a reboot the FW seems to have updated.
