Drive Upgrade in LS Pro Duo

I have the 1TB (2x500) in raid 0. I am wondering how large I can upgrade my drives to. 1TB seemed like a lot when I bought the linkstation but it's not really enough any more. I'm not really worried about the warranty. I would like to put 2x1.5TB or 2x2TB drives in.

Thanks

Re: Drive Upgrade in LS Pro Duo

We have only used up to 1.0 TB drives on the device. It may work with larger drives, but this is not supported and will void the warranty.

PLEASE post the Model Number and Firmware Version of your device! We can help a lot more with that info.

Re: Drive Upgrade in LS Pro Duo

Thanks for the response. I'm pretty sure my warranty has expired so that's not an issue. I have the LS-W1.0TGL/R1-V3 with firmware 3.10 running in raid 0. If I replace the drives 1 at a time will I get full capacity on them? I know this isn't officially supported but is there any reason why it won't work?

Re: Drive Upgrade in LS Pro Duo

Well, the firmware is on the drives, so you would need to run the TFTP recovery after replacing the drives. You can find that procedure stickied on the top of the Storage board.

[ Edited ]

Yes it works with bigger Harddisks. My LS Pro Duo has two 2 TB Harddisks from Samsung now.... (HD204UI). Its faster than with the original 500 GB Harddisks (from Samsung, too).

TFTP Boot and LSupdater and NasNavigator was needed to do this. I had often to change the IP-Adress on my own during the Firmware update.

The two disks run as RAID 1 now in my Linkstation.

Sorry for my bad English but I think a lot of people search for this Information.

Again: Yes you can run 4 TB in your LS Pro Duo (I have the one with two USB Ports LSWTGL R1-V3).

I think there is absolutely now Problem with the Samsung Harddisks (some people think the 4K sector is a problem but it is not).

Re: Drive Upgrade in LS Pro Duo

Couldn't I simply bit-copy one of the existing disks to a newer, larger drive, extend the file system and then insert the newer drives into the drive bays?  Wouldn't that recreate the RAID 1 array on the 2nd, new, blank disk?
