Hi,

I got my new LS-XH1.0 linkstation yesterday and noticed it has a firmware version 1.10.

This is correct on the US site being the latest.

On the europe site the latest firmware shows as 1.20. 

What is the difference and which one shall i use?

I am in EU.

Also any tips of the easiest way of updating this.

You will need to call your local support.  Due to you being in the EU there are diffrent revisions and you will want to dble check.

I think I saw the 1.20 version on the US as well at one time, but I am not sure.

I updated my LS-XHL to 1.20 and bricked it. I did a tftp boot, reapplied 1.20 and it still did not boot. I reapplied firmware version 1.10 and am using the LS-XHL without problems.

The problem I had was very similar to the problem with LS-CHL 1.20 firmware which caused Buffalo to bring out firmware version 1.21 within days.

My gut feel is that LS-CHL and LS-XHL firmware have a lot in common and that the LS-XHL 1.20 firmware has the same flaw as the LS-CHL firmware.

I would not recommend upgrading to version 1.20.

They are still diffrent.  You should call the GU support and ask them whats the most recent version they know of for your unit.

I've been running my LS-XHL 1.5 TB on European/UK firmware v 1.20 since 20th August, the day after I bought it.  Apart from slow file-writing speeds, no problems...
