Can't delete shared folder on my Link Station Live

Hi,

I created two shared folders on the disk of my Link Station Live and I cannot delete them. There's no check box next to them in shared folders/shared folders setup. I tried formatting the disk and resetting the NAS to its factory settings but it did not work. I also updated the firmware to latest version (1.06).

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Try resetting the Samba server on the unit. To do this log into the unit by opening a browser windows and type in the IP address of the NAS unit.
After logging in the unit click on Maintenance then Initialization. Next click on the Restore option.

Re: Can't delete shared folder on my Link Station Live

I have a problem that is almost opposite.

I upgraded my LS Live firmware to version 2.11 and now the ONLY folder I have left is the "Share" folder.  All the other folders I created are missing.  My folders called "Backups", "Media" are both gone, and they have most of my data.

The firmware upgrade also changed the hostname of the LSLive and the password back to the default.  It also changed the web interface to japanese, and I can't change it back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Can't delete shared folder on my Link Station Live

I am having this same issue. The problem is that when creating the shared folder, I was not able to chose a volume.  Now, I have multiple shares that I cannot delete.  What is even more frustrating is that these shares can only take about 2GB worth of storage, making them all but worthless for backup.  I am in the process of formating to see if that fixes the issue.  I tried to initialize and reset factory defaults.  I wasn't even able to select "format" as an option. I had to select "erase". I guess I will know in 10 hours if it works.  This is pretty ridiculous and if this doesn't work I am going to have them send me a new drive that actually lets me create usable folders.

Re: Can't delete shared folder on my Link Station Live

Well, my device is apparently still formatting or something. It no longer shows up with web interface or NAS-2 utility. It would be nice if we could get some info about the problem that originally made me try to erase disk, which turned out to be disastrous.

Re: Can't delete shared folder on my Link Station Live

I had the same problem once but I fixed it with help from Buffalos Knowledge base:
http://www.buffalo-technology.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10142&category_id=0&sid2=

The problem is due the partiontable being corrupted. This can be caused by removing a external device (such as a USB Device) without unmounting the device first.

In my case I had a printer with built-in card Reader, which could be used as storage device.
When I removed the printer from the NAS without unmounting it, the partiontable crashed.

Remember when you debug your device you should check the checkbox "Rebuild Partiontable" in the debug menu.

By rebuilding the partition table you will lose all for your data.
