I using LinkStation with Bittorrent support,
when copy file from NAS to USB drive, the speed is follow my network speed connection.
This problem also occur when I copy between 2 network drive within NAS.
The speed is not local copy speed, there is my network speed.
How can I make local copy, is it have any utillity to do it? I using Windows XP.

If you are using a PC to copy files from a NAS HDD to a USB DRIVE on the NAS, you will be using the network speed as your maximum file transfer speed. A copy from one drive to another through the network, at least in a windows environment, essentially copies the file to a local temp directory and uploads it back to the destination device. So this is not a NAS limitation but simply a network file copy limitation.
The only way to circumvent this is to have console access to the NAS so that the file copy is initiated from the NAS itself and not from your windows PC, however that defeats the whole Network Attached Storage aspect. :)
I do not know if they have a utility that can talk directly to the console of the NAS, but I wouldn't think so.

For my idea, if Buffalo development team just put "move/copy function" in web access.
We will can transfer files between network drive to network drive or any usb data storage.
Hope this function will appear on new firmware :-)

I'll make a note of it and send it along to our firmware developers. Thanks for the input.

I could really do with this feature right now. Have just bought an LS-CH and are trying to copy loads of files from my old USB drive onto it, with a bit of re-organisation and housekeeping and its taken over 12 hours so far via wifi!! All very well having the direct copy option but doesnt help when moving files around on the NAS.
Bet they develop this before I finish copying over all my files and have them all nice and tidy!! :smileymad:

Snidfly : What transfer speed are u getting over wireless/ wired & direct copy?.
I am getting around 8mbps with wired connection and 1mbps over wireless. Even with direct copy the speed is just 8-10mbps. Is there something wrong with the LS-CH-2TL-V2 that I am using. The tech support guy said that these are 'normal' speeds. I am terribly disappointed as I think it is a great product overall.
Also, in direct copy does it copy just images first and then other media files ??
