Buffalo Linkstation Live wireless

I got an imac desktop and I use wireless connection. my router is 3 floors down so I dont got ethernet cable near me. is it somehow possible to connect the Linkstation Live with the internet wireless? or can I connect my HD ethernetcable directly with my imac? or is the connection with my router always necessary? I asked the salesman in the store if a router was necessary and he told me "no"

can someone explain me please

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Live wireless

You do not have to connect the LinkStation to your router in order to access it, but you will be limiting access to just the one computer it is connected to and losing any features which requrie an Internet connection (like Web Access).

Just connect directly from the LinkStation to your computer via Ethernet cable, and use the NAS Navigator 2 software to find the unit and connect to it.

Either both the LinkStation and the computer should have a static IP address on the same subnet, or neither should be assigned a static IP address.

I do not work for Buffalo Technology. My advice is my own and comes from my experience working with the products.
