The Trashbox can be a very useful feature. While you haven't recovered your disk space, if you try to copy a file into the Buffallo that is larger than the disk space available, items in the Trashbox will be deleted as needed to accomodate the new file.
So you have 400mb "available" but have deleted 150G to the Trashbox. If you copy over a file that is, say, 500MB, it will remove from the Trashbox files to allow space for the new incoming file. For me this makes the use of the drive much more effective.
