Hi!
I just re-installed Windows 7 on my laptop. Since then my Buffalo blu-ray disc dvd writer BR-X816U2 will not open or close. The blue light is on but i cannot insert a dvd to burn.
So I went to the Buffalo site (http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/validate
Update: Just registered my dvd writer and was able to download whatever was offered (increasing speed with usb). Tried installing it, it refuses to install the software, it claims that my dvd writer is not connected. I checked with my computer and it is not listed. I think that the problem is with the usb.
Thank you,
PhilG

No, but I'll try right away, and come back with an answer.

Of all the dumb things, it works on my other laptop. I then removed it, brought it back to my original laptop, connected it and it works. Yoooooooooopi!
Probably it needed to be re-initialized.
It works, and thanks for the idea of trying it somewhere else.
Thank you
