I recently purchased this piece of hardware and to date I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in it.  It will read and write disks only very sporadically.  Sometimes it will read - sometimes it will not - the very same disk.  Sometimes it will write to a Single Layer - sometimes it will not, same with DVD-RDL - sometimes yes, sometimes no.  I have not even attempted to burn a Blu-ray disk yet.  I am using Roxio 2010 and using this drive merely for backups.  I Wonder if anybody has any suggestions, or did I just get a bum one and I should request an RMA?

Using Windows XP-SP3 with all updates installed.  Yes, my machine meets the minimum specs listed under the "minimum specs" on the product datasheet.  I am using USB 2, not USB 3.

I would try and reinstall the drivers for this device and or try another Pc. If this keeps happening then it is a problem with the device and you will need an RMA.
