Error (or information) code 53 for CloudStor
« on: February 08, 2012, 03:23:57 PM »

My CS-WV/1D is flashing an Info or Error code 53.  I can't find what this code means.

After booting the drive, I get 5 long and 3 short amber flashes, which according to the manual(!) means an information code 53.  But, the manual doesn't have a code 53.  I must be missing something here.

Any suggestions what this code is or if I am misinterpreting it would be appreciated.

I am using Windows 7 and the drive is on my network.

Thanks in advance

So, there is a new manual and it includes a new information code, 53, which means that the device can't communicate with the Cloud  service.  Maunual came out late January 2012.

Answered my own question for a change; now I need to find out why the code!

Usually this code comes from the unit being blocked by a firewall on your router. You can try opening up these ports or enabling UPNP.

All ports are both inbound AND outbound

  • TCP 80, 443 for Authentication
  • UDP 4365 for File Transfers
  • UDP 3333 for Local Traffic

I am getting error code 53 on my Cloudstar CS-WX1.0\1D; noting 'can't reach cloud services' as pogoplug is no longer reachable. How do I resolve?  Thanks

  • There's no problem so bad you cannot make it worse

I think @oxygen8 made a post a while back with a method for installing the ls-wxl firmware on this device. I’ve never tried that personally.

You can install Debian Linux on this device using the lswxl installer (I actually used a cxl for testing).
