LSUpdater cannot find LS-CH2.0TL help!
« on: January 03, 2012, 03:28:39 PM »

Hi, I have a LS-CH2.0TL (firmware 1.56) which came up with a E06 error. I could still access my data and get into web admin; however the error was annoying so I followed another post which advised backing up my data and formating.  I tried backing up my data and formating the drive. Since formating I could no longer get into the web settings or pickup my nas from nas navigator. I have tried soft reseting to no avail.

I then tried a TFTP boot from file TFTP Boot Recovery LS-CHL 1.06.exe via direct network cable?. Initally the blue light wouldnt go solid so I used another posts info and tried :- http://download.discountnetz.com/tftp-boot-recovery/tftp_1.41_kirkwood.zip

I now have a soild blue and lsupdater finds my drive. I followed the guide - change ini file and enable debug mode. However when updating I get the message:-

Couldn't confirm a response from LS-CHL-V2-EM83E

please check a network address of both PC and LS-CHL-V2-EM83E
Please disable the Firewall function if it is working on PC.
Updating is aborted

I have disactivated antivirus, firewall, wifi connection and exited nas navigator. I also tried changing my IP to 192.168.11.150 (as described in a simular thread).

Help!!!!! Ive spent so many hours tinkering with this and am getting no where!

Directly connect to the unit via Ethernet cable

- check

make sure that you do not have a static IP address set on your NIC

- I have been using 192.168.11.150 as it is picked up by TFTP.

perform the reset procedure on the unit
- check (via TFTP Boot as wont reset via function button)

and try to force flash the firmware again
- 1.56 firmwares fails the sames message as before
- 1.12 states - LS-CHL that needs updating was not found

I then opened nas navigator and it asked if I want to automaticlly renew my ip address  and says its in EM mode.... Tried updating, it completed transfering, then said "waiting for linkstation to reboot" with the red light flashing.....

Its been doing that for ages... any ideas?

Solved!  Anyone else with similar problems here is what I did:

I went on another NAS forum and found a guide using TFTP Boot Recovery 1.53.

Using TFTP boot sent my nas into an amber state before rebooting itself. I then tried TFTP boot to get it into a solid blue state (as the manual way didn't work for me).

Changed my IP address in NIC settings to find automatically.

Opened up nas navigator, which renewed my ip address

Completed the 1.56 firmware update.

Done!

The only issues was that web settings were in Japanese! However there are plenty of guides to change back to English

Thanks!
