(Mac) Disk Maintenance Question
« on: November 04, 2011, 07:33:12 PM »

One of the 1TB HDDs in the Linkstation Duo (LS-WX2.0TL/R1?) connected to the all Mac network in my home failed after repeated warnings of pending disk failure (duh!). Here's my question. Assuming I replace the failed drive, how - since all my disk tools are Mac oriented and the usual array of tools (Disk Warrior, Tech Tool, Data Rescue, Apple's Disk Utility, etc.) can't access or service the drives in the Link Station?  - do I maintain the disks (i.e.. rebuild directories, etc.).

Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you replace the disk in the unit you will want to rebuild the RAID array using the web interface of the unit. If your unit is in RAID 1 then you should not lose any of the data.
