2nd HD on LS-WXL/R1
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:11:51 PM »

Hi guys,

I bought a LS-WXL/R1? with 2TB and Id like to add a 2nd HD. Can I install any brand of HD, or I should follow the recommendation of HD for CloudStor? I know that my storage is not a cloudstor, but.. i dont know.

Thanks.

Andre

Cloudstor are practically identically in hardware.

You are on the safe side if you purchase on of the disks in the list or one identical with the one you already have.

Ok, IŽll be safe. But If I wont buy these kind of disks. Do you have any experience using other disks than suggested? Did anyone have?

I have tested Samsung 320 GB drives and seemed to work fine, but this was a test only.

Anyway, the recommendation is that in a RAID array, both disks should be as "identical" as possible, not only in size, but also in transfer speed.  The Buffalo recommended disks are the most common and inexpensive ones.  If you buy high performance disks maybe they will not be fully compatible.
