Cannot update DTCP-IP, Giving firmware error message.
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:07:42 AM »

Dear All

I started to update DTCP-IP on my linkstation ls-wvl,  It gave me error message that:

"While firmware updating, Media server update cannot be updated completly. Please click update DTCP-IP after establishing internet connection"

I know, that on 1st Aug, I(day before yesterday) I updated my firmware ver. to 1.52. And yesterday I also rebooted it successfully.

So, I decided to restart DLNA server. Afer doiing this, I decided to update DTCP-IP again.

From past 20 mins, it is just showing messages like, downloading and rebooting. And finally again it gave me same message:

"While firmware updating, Media server update cannot be updated completly. Please click update DTCP-IP after establishing internet connection"

Please help.

Reset the linkstation to factory defaults (system - restore/erase - restore linkstation)
This will put the IP/subnet/Gateway and DNS back to automatic and should allow you to update the media server.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

1. Tried restarting dlna. Still no luck

2. tried to restore default settings, which will reboot linkstation itelf. Still no luck.

I would try force flashing to reinstall the firmware. That is definitely a weird issue and reflashing the firmware might resolve it.

I have the same issue with both firmware 1.52 and 1.53 on a LS-WVL 4Tb. The unit definite can access the Internet as it validates that it has the most recent firmware. Will reflashing help?

I have the Linkstation Pro Duo WVL5EB 4TB, Windows 7 64bit.

Same problem here. After firmware upgrade to 1.54 I got the advice to hit the button "Update DTCP-IP". The update lasts very long (Message "Downloading"...)and doesn't complete? Any advices?

I don't want to reset the linkstation because I fear problems. Are my settings gone when I reset the linkstation? What about my data?

A lot of user seem to have this trouble. Can we get some word of officials?

I found the simple solution (for me)

I had to disable the DLNA Server. After this the update procedure was successful and it updates to v1.40-20110204.

I hope everything is fine now.

I never ran into this issue. I tested it out and I was able to update the media server version while the media server was running.

Hi! I checked again. The problem is google chrome browser related.

With internet explorer I can update without stopping the DLNA server.

Both newest version...

I just had the same trouble with firmware version 1.54. I was able to solve it when defining the IP address as "exposed host" on my router. The whole trouble seems to be related to blocked ports and communication trouble.

Might be it's helpful also for other people.

Might be it's valuable if you're telling the community if it works

I just had the same problem, using Firefox. Disabling the DLNA server first worked for me.

I have tried everything that I have seen listed, updated firmware to 1.54, disabled media server, closed Google chrome and restored factory defaults.  I get the following messages in order when trying to update the DTCP-IP:

Playing, copying (moving) or recording contents is terminated forcefully. Are you sure?

Error: While firmware updating, Media Server update can not be updated completely. Please click 'Update DTCP-IP' button after establishing Internet connection.

I am using a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2 router with a LS-VL844 NAS device.

Does anyone have any new suggestions?
