Replacing drive in DriveStation Duo
« on: January 04, 2009, 07:07:09 AM »

Folks:

I have a RAID 1 configuration on my new Drivestation Duo (2 TB).  Since I just had to replace a failed drive on a Terastation (everything went fine), I was wondering what the procedure was to replace a drive on the Drivestation should one fail?

Is it as simple as opening the case, and installing a new 7200rpm 1tb drive and then letting the box recreate the mirror image?

There seems to be no documentation from Buffalo on this (nothing in the manual).

Does anyone know the procedure???

Since the DriveStation Duo is a hardware RAID witha  RAID controller on the mainboard of the unit, there are no extra steps needed once a new disk is put in place of a failed one.  The controller should detect the new, unformatted drive and automatically start a rebuild attempt.
