LS-XHL fw 1.41 against 1.27
« on: June 08, 2011, 03:00:45 AM »

Hello all! Long time since i came into this forum...

I never updated the FW on my linkstation pro 1TB and i have old version 1.27 (or 1.24, can't remember)

My main question is: is it worth the fw update? the only function i  am interested in it's the download manager; is it available now, or do we still have just the integrated torrent client by default?

For download manager i mean the possibility to put links from Rapidshare, Megaupload and so on

or some Emule client

Thanks

Regards

Jotin

Ok, thanks for the anser. Is there any plan to implement  it in reasonable timings (6 months or so) ?

Without that option i will probably be forced to go on another brand that have the possibility to do it

You should post that in the Idea Exchange Lounge so readers can vote for it - then the Japan engineers will see if a lot of readers vote for it.

yes i already did it nearly last year

and i only had 4 votes... probably because im not on the main page

or because people does not realize that downloading with a system that uses just 11W can save hundreds of $ on electric bill

but since other brand have this option, if it will not be implemented, i will just change my NAS :-)

you must have a very high electric rate (much higher than mine) if 11W is going to save you hundreds on electric bills  ;-)

Yes unfortunately in Italy it's like that.

Think of a normal PC (150W working for 10 hours download) instead of a nas, and you will see how helpful the download manager can be!

Please help!

I envy you living in Italy, but "ouch" on your electric rates!

Its anyhow a waste of resources, spending a lot of energy when you can just implement the download manager function on a firmware and save lot of Megawatts

I hope Buffalo will listen to this request, because i have no other way , i will be forced to change NAS brand
