Link Station CHL Help Please

Hi,

 

I'm  having a problem with my linkstation. It will work for a short while (10-30 minutes) after I turn it on, after which I can't access it. It "appears" on the network list ok, but can't be reached through windows. On the Buffalo software, I'm getting chinese (or maybe Japanese) characters in the "Host Name" box.

 

I'm guessing the first thing to try is a firmware update. How do I check what version I need? The most obvious indicator is a label on the underside reading "LS-CH1.0TL-EU". Does this mean it's version 1?

No, it will say in the Nas navi under firmware version. If you do not see that then you need to update your nas navigator.

Thanks Jotin - I've updated the Nas navigator, and it's telling me it's a 1.0TL-V2. However the Firmware is 1.10.

 

I assume I'll need the latest version 1 software?

You firmware is far out of date. Please update the firmware to your regions latest version. This should solve your issue.

Ok, I got most of the way through the update, at which point the updater said it couldn't see the link station.

 

The link station was dead, and not accessible from any other machine.

 

When I turn the LS on, I can hear it try to start up for about 10-15 seconds while the blue LED flashes, then it shuts down. It keeps retrying, keeps shuting down again.

 

Any ideas? I'm not sure how old these are, at a guess about one year.

If the unit keeps restarting after 10-15 seconds it will have to be replaced. Please call 866-752-6210 for further support.
