HS-DHGL USB drives not working
« on: January 22, 2011, 09:17:45 AM »

I have 2 500gig and 1 250gig NAS drives. If I connect USB drives (1 250gig 2 500gig 1 1000gig)  to 1 of the 500's all work fine (formated XFS). If I connect the drives to the other 2 NAS's (only tried the 250 and 1000 drives) then they become read only and depending on which port (ie usbdisk1 or 2) they are connected to, a tree of 27 sub-folders appear with the port name.

I have tried formating the USB's with all the NAS's, flashed the firmware so that they are all 2.1, factory reset the 2 troublesome drives and compared the settings between drives. All the USB drives were working as backup drives off a computer and the 1000gig drive is only about 3 months old and only been on when needed for backup.

Any ideas?

Have you tried formating the drives with the units that are having the issues or was it only formated with the one that worked?

I've tried formating the drives several times with all the NAS's, good and bad. The best I've had, is for the USB drives to work for a couple of minutes before going bad, except when connected to 1 of the 500's

When you say you factory reset them, what do you mean? What process did you do?

Put the drives back to default and set the drives up from scratch.
