I use the paid version of the app and can tell you that you definiltey can change the port you use, as far as the free version I don't know, but its free so download it and try it. You will need to expand the advanced features when settin git up in order to get to the port selection part.

OK, thanks for pointing out that Advanced option.  changed the port to 447, forwarded the port on the router and still cannot connect remotely to the buffalo NAS.

 

Local connections work great to the NAS and all computers.

 

Any other tips?

As far as using 447, I would try something different. Maybe a 4 digit port. I notice when I try to use weird ports like 663 or 447 they don't seem to work, but when I use 4 digit ports it does. Try something like 8000, 9000, 6300, 7300, 6500 or something along those lines. What kind of router do  you have?
