I'm having the same problems. My setup is as follows:-

Comcast Business High-speed Internet with Static IP
Comcast cable modem model SMC-D3G
SonicWall TZ-190 Firewall
Buffalo Linkstation Pro Duo LS-W1.0TGL/R1

I'm a complete novice. A local IT guy that takes care of our network took a look at it but he couldn't figure it out either.

In the SonicWall, he created a group under Firewall > Services named "Buffalo Services". Under that group, he created two rules:-

Name: Buffalo TCP
Protocal: TCP
Port Range: 9000-9000

Name: Buffalo UDP
Protocal: UDP
Port Range: 9000-9000

He created the following rule under Firewal > Access Rules:-

Action: Allow
From Zone: All Zones
To Zone: All Zones
Service: Buffalo Services
Source: Any
Destination: Any
Users Allowed: All
Schedule: Always On

The IP address for the Buffalo Linkstation is 192.168.1.80. My SonicWall is 192.168.1.1. After reading other posts, I checked my static IP address from Comcast using www.ipchicken.com. It is 173.12.x.xxx.

I have entered the following into the Linkstation's Web Access > Service Setup:-

Web Access Services: Enable
HTTPS/SSL Encription: Disable
Use BuffaloNAS.com: Enable
BuffaloNAS.com Name: myname
BuffaloNAS.com Key: mykey
DNS Hostname:
Auto-Configure Firewall (UPnP): Disable
External Port: 9000

Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions to get this working? I've contacted Buffalo but they just copied/pasted the page from the instruction book.

Thanks

Peter

If web access it working locally but not remotely then you have not forwarded the ports on your router correctly. Contact your router provider.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

I read all about these tips and answers on how to solve this remote webaccess issues with buffalo NAS linkstation.

I also have the same problem.

The thing is that I really need someone to walk me through steps ,one by one to get it done. Sounds like too much ,but honestly ,I am fed up with trying and not getting it done properly .

Would anyone be able to walk me through setting ,which i guess wouldn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes ?

I have this Skype sharing option that I can show you my moves ( real time ).

Anyone out there ?

I still get an IP I've never seen, like this: 98.206.xxx.xx:9000/

thoughts? Thanks for your help.

That IP is likely the external (internet facing) IP address for your router/gateway. While there are a lot of very complex reasons for this, I'll just let you know that all the 192.168.x.x addresses on your internal network are never seen by devices on the internet.
