HD-HTGL/R5 slowing down
« on: December 03, 2010, 06:33:15 PM »
I have a TerraStation HD-HTGL/R5. Lately it seems to take much longer to read and write files. I ran the disk check and upgraded the firmware. Is there anyway to test or diagnose problems with this unit other than the disk check? Is it possible that this is an indication that this unit is starting to reach the end of it's life. It's only about 30 percent full.

Plug it in to your pc, set the pc and ts on the same ip shceme and test some files. See how the terastation does.

A 25 meg file takes to 2.6 min. to write and 30.22 sec. to read. The same file on a linkstation takes 12.45 sec. to write and 31.98 sec. to read

Hmm, ouch. I would try going into the interface, choose maintenance, then initialization and restore the unit. It will not delete the data.

Did you try a different ethernet cable? Othere than that... You could try formating it. You could be right, something may be going wrong physically with the unit.
