HS-DH500GL, Error lights/tone

hi folks, whenever i turn on my linkstation now, the lights for the ethernet and activity light up, but after about 30seconds, the error light flashes and i get audible tones continuously.  The device does not show on my network any longer.  Is there anything I can do, is the data lost?

Looks like i may need a new fan: ta200dc, 12v dc fan, nidec beta V, can i get a new fan from buffalo?

hi folks, update, i have 6 blinking lights which says the HD cannot be found; however, the fan is also not working, i replaced the fan, and it does not turn on and i have the same 6 red light flash and audible alarm.  Any guesses?  Can i take out the HD and throw it in an enclosure to get my data off it?

You could do that but you would have to be running linux to see the data. The six flashing lights is a drive error. You could also try just reseeding the disk.

id chance a TFTP boot on the unit before doing anything.

I recovered my HS-DHGL from this error by doing it.

Thanks...what about the EM mode first as in the previous faq?

I couldn't get anywhere with the tftp boot........i got to the 'accepting requests' screen but never got to the second.

When you run the tftp boot for about 2 minutes, then try doing the force update (faq 2 of 5) even if you don't see blocks served.
