DriveNavi won't install
« on: November 09, 2010, 09:19:17 AM »

I have downloaded the DriveNavi archive from the website for my storage which is HD-CE1.0TU2-EU, tried to install it but I get the following message:

Drivestation not detected. Check the data cable and power connection, and try running Setup again.

However, I could transfer files to the storage with no problems but I feel like storage isnt as fast as it was so I thought maybe because I dont have the DriveNavi application installed.

I tried installing it on three different computers with 3 different OSs, XP, Vista and 7 but all failed. I even tried formatting it to NTFS but still wont install.

I also suspect that maybe because device manager reads it as just "Mass Storage Device" and I couldnt remember if it was like that before or was it "Buffalo HD-CE1.0TU2"

Is there any way I can install the application?

Does it really make it faster?

If I can't install it, would NTFS be better/faster than FAT32?

The drive navi doesnt make it faster. Its just a connection tool for setup.

Why can't I install the software? Is there something I should do?

Do you still see the cd partition when you plug in the usb drive? the drivenavi.exe is not required to use this device.

I dont know what you mean by cd partition. If youre asking if I can see it from disk management then yes...

I am aware that I dont need the software to use the device as I am using it now but the description in the TurboUSB option says that it will increase the data transfers to and from the drivestation and I cant install the thing.

Any workaround you can suggest?

The turbousb software and the Drive Navi are different pieces of software. Go to buffalotech.com/support/downloads and select your unit. You can download that software there. And no, some of these drives have a built in cd partition which contains the drivenavi program which helps set up the drive.

I dont have that partition anymore as I have formatted my drive, I tried enabling to view hidden and protected files but its no longer there.

The link you gave only lets me choose HD-CE1.0TIU2 and HD-CE500IU2.

The software that I downloaded from the support section have a turbousb software with it.

How about that cd partition, can I download that? Maybe it can solve the issue.

Well I was going to try and link you directly the software but you cant download it with that serial number since it wasnt bought in the U.S. You should be able to browse the cd download and find the turbousb software by itself and install it that way.

The TurboUSB software should be the same with the one packed with DriveNavi, right? Is there anyway I can have that cd partition that is compatible with my drivestation?

what version of Windows are you trying to install the Turbo USB software? Is it 32 or 64 bit?

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
