Array Resyncing
« on: October 04, 2010, 09:26:12 AM »

This morning my Buffalo Terastation Pro was turned off.  I always leave it turned on.  When it was turned back on it went into some strange mode where it says it is resyncing an ARRAY.  I cannot access the unit or any files on the drive.  There is a message I17 on the LED display.

The User Manual is less than useless, as is the website, and nothing clearly explaines what resyncing an array means, how long it will take, or why this happened.  I have a general idea of what resyncing an array means.  I presume it means that 1/2 of my RAID does not mirror the other half and it is trying to re-establish parity between the 2 drives.  Or so I surmise.

Does anyone know what would cause this condition and when/if I can access files on the Terastation Pro again?

Thanks

Depending on your raid structure and drive size the resync can take up to days, pending.  As for why this happened there is no clear indication as to why, a good portion of the time it is in relation to a hard disk going bad.
