We just upgraded to the newest firmware 1.33  After a reboot the TS is reporting that Drive 3 is not connected.  Open remove Hard Drive and cables for drive 3 reconnected with the same result.  Any ideas?  Prior to the firmware upgrade drive 3 was working just fine.  Also the installer does not work on a win 7 computer even if the firewall is disabled

Have you tried an EM boot?  Please let me know if the problem persists beyond that.  Could be a bad HDD.

The TS did upgrade the firmware.  However it reports a bad drive 3

Hi I did an EM Boot as you suggested and forced a firmware update.  The unit updated the firmware same as  before to 1.33.  However it still reports a missing hd3.

Also I have to flash the TS from a xp or server 2003 computer as it will not work on a win7 32 or 64 bit pc even with the windows firewall disabled.  Any idea as to why we can not update the ts with a win7 computer?

I had one user turn off User Account Control (UAC) and that worked for them.  If the firmware has been updated and the HDD is not being detected then it's most likely a controller board issue on the HDD.  In which case you'll need to contact your respective tech support region for an RMA if you're still in warranty.

backup your data and swop HDD3 with HDD4, if it still reports HDD3 as the error then you know its the controller, if it shows HDD4 as the issue then you know its just the HDD

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

OK swapped 3 for 4 and the problem followed.  So it looks like a bad HD

Good to hear that we narrowed down the problem.  Give us a call to have an RMA for that bad HDD setup (provided you're in warranty) or procure a replacement.  Post back if you have questions :)

same error on drive 3 with different result.

drive 3 sata channel bad means controller board is bad.

ts-htgl/r5 is out of warranty (by 2 weeks) and RMA group will not support it.  also say they have no replacement boards for sale.

able to perform debug reflash with no change in results.

where can i get a replacement controller board?

my gear is TS-HTGL/r5 f/w 1.35

how have you been able to ascertain its a controller issue? Have you moved the HDD's around? Did the error follow the disk or not?
