HS-DH500GL Cannot access No Network connection
« on: July 07, 2010, 02:54:17 AM »

I got a NAS HS-DH500GL and I cannot see that from Nas Navigator or LSUpdater.

I tried all the possible things on different forums and still no luck.

When I tried to go to EM Mode, it gives the melody and go there. But after a while, I won't be able to see it from NAS navi etc.

Therefre, I won't be able to update the firmware, as I can't see the device at all.

I tried to connect the device to a router - No luck

I Tried to connect to a PC using CAT6 straighthrough and crossover cable setup IP as 192.168.11.1/24 - No luck

I believe the network part of the NAS does not function at all.

Sometimes, when I turn on the device, I get  Power LED blinks and Link/ACt LED is stable

Sometimes the device gives a 4 beeps constantly.

I called BuhhaloTec help and the guy asked me to do a force update. But how do I do that, as my device is

not recognised by the computer.

Any help would be really appreciated. I am sick of this.

You need to boot the unit into EMMODE and then follow the Force Firmware Procedure.  You might need to directly connect the unit to your PC with an ethernet cable no crossover needed and set a static on your Nic to 192.168.11.xxx

Thanks for the reply.

I did that may be 20 times. But the problem is the PC cannot even initialize the ACTIVE network.

In other words, When the NAS is connected to the PC directly, it would not identify (The Local area connection won't even initialize)

I am using XP Pro and the Network Card shows as a cross. (No network activity from the NAS)

Therefore, I won't be able to do the Force update.

DO you think, this is a problem in the board..?  I tried to connect to other PCs and oter network cards, still Local area network showing

a cross.

please help me ................

ok step by step...

check the settings of your nic card and set to default.

After that,

have you change the ip on your computer to 192.168.11.1 yet?

run the tftpboot.exe application?

power on the linkstation by pressing onto the reset button at the back?

Thanks for thge reply...

I have done that many times.. tried on different PCs with different cables... - Still no luck

I guess soething to do with the board..

NAS goes to the EM mode.. BUT no network connectivity at all..

TFTPboot will look for active network card and just stops as there is no network signal.

Any idea guys..??

If that's the case then your main board might be faulty. I did have the same problem but only after replacement of the main board then I was able to detect thru tftp and update the firmware. If the same thing happen again to this set then I'm out of luck as warranty is over for this set...
