LS-CHL F/W 1.07 - Cannot download via bittorent
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:04:40 AM »

Hi,

My Linkstation Live LS-CHL F/W 1.07 has recently stopped downloading within the bittorrent client.

It won't add urls that have been pasted in to the address box.

It will add filesif you upload the .torrent files manually, but the torrents are not downloading.

Has anyone had a similar issue or does any one know of a solution?

Any help would be grateful

Thanks

Craig

Did you ever get this feature to work?

I have exactly the same issue. :(

Unfortunately not.

I'm in the process of installing bittorent on my laptop in the event that it may be a router issue. But I doubt this.

Its a weird coincidence that multiple NAS drives have stoped responding in this way.

Maybe theres an expiry date on the bittorrent client.

Just FYI no update on firmware. I have been running 1.07 since it's release

My linkstation came with fw1.01. I contacted tech support but they just told me to update to 1.07, which I did but it didnt change anything.

The torrents work fine  if I add them as a file but the torrent does not load it I do it by URL.

Very strange.

Are your downloads actually running when uploading the .torrent file?

Like you I can add files but not URLs. However, the files are not downloading.

i have just installed bittorrent on my pc, added the same files and they have downloaded succesfully.

Are any other forum users having the same trouble?

If I upload the torrent file yes it starts downloading. If I add the URL, nothing happens. I had to set up port forwarding on my router to get the web access and bit torrent to work. I forwarded port 9000 and also selected that port in the settings of bit torrent and the linkstation.

My ports are all ok.

The files manually uploaded are listed but they will not download.

So to re-iterate.

My linkstation bittorrent client has ceased to download

After waiting patiently for a reply to this thread and viewing other posts, it seems that there are a few recent issues with the linkstation live. My issues are as follows:

  1. Cannot add a torrent file via the url
When I copy a link url from any torrent site / tracker and paste it into the address url bar in the linkstation web interface, it no longer adds the torrent to the list.

  2. Downloads remain at 0% when uploading a file
When I save the .torrent file to my hard disk and upload the .torrent file via the web interface, the file is added to the list and it always remains at 0%.
In order to resolve the above, I have tried the following:
  1. Change the default ports.
Based on a reply on this forum "Try using port 49881-49890 insted of default port 6881." I have forwarded the ports via my router rules, set the ports in the settings page for the linkstation and still no luck.

  2. Change the destination folder in the linkstation management and go to http://linkstationbittorrent:9090 instead of :8080.
I have tried this and still no effect. The files still do not download.
I am reluctant to force a flash firmware update to the linkstation, in case it becomes a brick.
Will there be any firmware updates for the 1.07 version?
If I use my laptop or pc bittorrent clients, they work as expected. The main reason i bought the drive was for low power consumption bittorrent use.
Can any one shed some light as to whether or not their linkstations have stopped downloading recently.

Re: LS-CHL F/W 1.07 - Cannot download via bittorent SOLVED!!!

Finally got this sorted, albeit not the ideal solution

Go to the web management screen

Network > IP Address / properties

Set the Automatic via DHCP option to "enabled"

The DNS settings awere set as per my local network (gateway and DNS), but as soon as i set to DCHP enabled, the torrents started working again.

I don't know how to notify a support mod, but it would be nice for a "test settings" button on this screen to confirm the manual settings are correct.

I don't like having a floating ip address for the linkstation but as it is on most of the time, it may be ok, just need to use the nas navigator to find it

Just reserve the Linkstation an IP address on your router then!

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
