HD-HLAN v1 - Toasted power supply?
« on: November 27, 2008, 01:09:09 PM »

Hi, I have an original LinkStation HD-HLAN120 -- it's been great for many years, and I love it!

I recently had to reboot it, and when I powered it on, it would not restart (6 flashes of the red LED). I fooled around with it for a while, and could find nothing wrong. Eventually, out of deperation, I plugged the disk's power connector into my PC's power supply (data still connected to the Linkstation's IDE connector)... Now it boots and runs fine...

So it seems the power supply no longer has enough juice to power both the mainboard AND the disk... (?!)

Anybody know where can I get a replacement power supply?

Cheers,

matt.

Since the device does not use a modular power supply, there is no simple way to replace it. You may want to try checking the voltages on the Linkstation's hard drive power connector with a multimeter to see if any of the wires is not supplying sufficient power.
