The drive is accessible from any windows system I plug it into and all the data is accessible. My problem is that the drive is recognized as Generic External USB Device instead of BUFFALO HD-PEU2 USB Device. Because of this I cannot install or use turbousb or the eco manager. When I first got the drive everything worked on my Vista 32-bit notebook but somewhere along the line something went wrong. The only thing that I changed is that I formatted the drive to NTFS. I am in the process of backing up the data and will try formatting back to FAT32 with the BUFFALO formatter to see if that does anything.
Update:
Forgot to mention that other usb drives report their correct id on my pc and the others that I have tested with.
Update:
No luck with the format. I got the device using Chipgenius and it gave me this:
PnP Device ID: VID = 13FD PID = 1840
Serial Number: 533142554A44305337313737

Device Type: Standard USB device - USB2.0 High-Speed
Chip Vendor: initio(???)
Chip Part-Number: INIC-1606L

If anyone else has a HD-PEU2 can you run Chipgenius to see what info you get.
