BUFFALO HD-PE320U2
« on: January 19, 2010, 03:53:19 PM »

Hi,

My problem is my computer is not recognizing the drive. I went to download the driver/software from this website but the hard drive isn't getting pick up. The drive was recently formatted, I back up the folders and files that came on the hard drive but now the hard drive isn't even being recognize for me to put those files back. My computer would randomly play the device plug in sound and device plug out sound. When I go to the Computer Management, it shows the hard drive as device unknown and I can't find the driver for the hard drive. But it randomly show and randomly disappear.

What options do you have when you right click on it in disk management?  Also is this a desktop or a laptop?

If the unit is still under warranty then I would contact support for a replacement.  There isn't much troubleshooting to do if it is not showing up in disk management on multiple computers.

It doesnt show up in disk management and its on my desktop but on my laptop the hard drive works. I was just wondering why it doesn't work on my desktop. Or is there just a driver for the hard drive like solely?

My computer is:

Asus Rampage II Extreme

i7

64bit Windows 7

8gig of patroit ram

2 2tb seagate hard drive

8800 Nvidia

Hey just checking,

u using the original USB cable that came with the HD-PEU2 or generic USB cable that is compatible to it?

Mayb u could try connecting to another (PC w/ XP) just to make sure before you send it back for warranty exchange.

I'm using the cable that came with the hard drive, I also tried another cable which works on other computer except on my x64 bit ultimate windows 7. I tried it on my sister computer which is running windows XP SP3 and it work. I'm just wondering if the hard drive is not x64bit compatible? Like the blue light doesnt show up on my computer, but when its plug into another computer everything is fine. Just not on my desktop which is the windows 7 ultimate x64 bit. Seem like the other guy/girl who reply on this thread is having the same problem and we almost have the exact same specs.

Also on the desktop make sure that you have the HDD plugged into the back USB ports.
