I am trying to set up a backup site for my computer.
I want to use something like the Linkstation LS-CHL with Memeo.
First I want to set the drive up locally and start the backup process so that I backup only the changed data.
Second I want to move the drive to another location fairly close to me but will be connected to the internet. This is so that I can make sure it's going to work using the internet.
Third I want to move the drive to another location father away. This will be the permanent location.
Will this work? Will the drive allow me to do backups and restores over the internet? If I need to do a major restore can I bring the drive back to my house and do the restore? Can I use a internet location that dose not have a dedicated IP address? Can I use a program like crashplan or must I use memeo to do the automatic backup? Must I use something like this .http://www.buffalonas.com/BobsLinkStation or can I use my own isp address with something like a dns service?
Any other hardware considerations I need to worry about like the router on both ends? I will be backing up a iMac.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
