"Failed" message on new drive
« on: August 24, 2020, 10:50:02 AM »
My LinkStation (LS220DE4BC) has a 3TB WD NAS (Red) (slot 1) and a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda (slot 2) drive. I'm running Win10 on my desktop and have all the latest updates.

I recently replaced my router (this may be a red herring), but the station reported that my 3TB had failed. That was surprising, since it wasn't that old and an NAS drive, but these things happen.

I removed the drive. AOMEI showed several partitions but the one with date (~2GB) was "unformatted". I was able to recover my data, fortunately. I did a sector check with AOMEI and the drive was clean.

I installed a new WD 6TB NAS (Red) drive and moved files. Now it is showing as failed (slot 1). I put the old ("failed" drive) in Slot 2 and it is reported as unformatted. I haven't tried to format it; my life would be easier if I could manage to unformat the data that is already there, but that's secondary.

So, I can't believe both of these drives have failed. Is the Linkstation failing? Any thoughts? Any way to troubleshoot?
