Network drives are always disconnected after PC reboot
« on: March 25, 2020, 06:05:30 PM »
I have a TeraStation TS3400D.  I had this connected to my home router with a single NIC and was accessing with my old Win10 computer and never had any issues.  I recently purchased a new Win10 PC and now every time I reboot my PC, the network drives come up with a red "x" and show disconnected until I actually click on them.  Once clicked, the go "green" and show me everything in the mapped drive.  I know these are truly disconnected because I have share of movies on this NAS and I stream to my TV with a Plex media server.  If I reboot my PC and forget to click on my TeraStation mapped drives, and try to launch Plex on my TV, it can't find any of my video files.  I have to then go back to my PC, click on the network drives, then go back to my TV and relaunch Plex then all of my video files are available.

I verified that my Win10 home network is set to private.  I think the only difference is that my old PC was wired to my router and my new PC is wireless.

Any thoughts?

This and other reasons are why I manually run a batch script to map my Terastation drives every time I logon to windows.
I trust windows credential manager with nothing.  It always corrupts or loses something- so it seems.

These two may or may not work:
Clear out your windows credential manager, and then try this.

or try this

This definitely works.  If you want a startup script to map drives after logon, then try this:

One other thing...
I really doubt it has anything to do with wired vs wireless.  I'm assuming your older system runs an older version of windows 10 perhaps.

Mapped drives showing disconnect after Feature 1809 update

Either way, I don't think I've ever seen network drives not getting disconnected after a reboot.  From a security standpoint, it only makes sense for them to disconnect like that.

I say go with a logon script or a manual batch file, that's the easiest way.
