7 Red LEDs LS220d
« on: September 15, 2019, 06:06:58 AM »
Googled it and it says the firmware is corrupt.
I bought two LS220D second hand unfortunately, no drives, fitted 2x WTB RED 4GB in one and it just shows the 7 RED blinks and wont shut down.
Do i just throw these in the bin and learn a lesson about buying Buffalo second hand ?

Whats with the never ending drawl of "I am not a robot" at this forum too ?

They pinned a post to the top for how to setup starting with blank drives, though the name is slightly confusing:

If you prefer you can also install Debian Linux:

I don’t know what their plan is for the spam bots.

I think they are actually just completely dead, when i plug them in to the BT router and go to the Router set up page, it isn't showing as plugged in to the ethernet port of the router, is that normal with no firmware, I would assume it has to actually see them for me to do that firmware update you linked to ?

Also if i just bought a 220DE, could i put the drives in that, format them with teh firmware, then put them in to the 220D and it would work ?

That model won’t initialize the network until it actually boots from the drive or you start TFTP (I think) so I wouldn’t worry about not showing up on the network at that stage.

Yes, you can use the 220de’s drives in the 220d. I have noticed that not all devices labeled 220de have the expected NAND recovery option but hopefully yours does.

Either way the link I shares earlier includes a guide that can use to do the install without NAND if needed.

If it was a brand new drive less 220DE it would have to have the nand to set the drives up right ?
I think i might just go that route.

It should. That should give you an easy way to setup both.
