Hello everyone,

GAME OVER

We just got an APPLE TIME CAPSULE. The Buffalo "Linkstation Dead" will be disconnected tomorrow.

Fed up waiting for the lost engineers of this "fake Apple compatible" device.

Hope (I really do) a positive solution will appear someday to you.

Hope there is no other hidden bug somewhere in the close future.

I did learn something:

there are many products wrongly advised as "Mac compatible" by disloyal companies.

Anyhow, keep smiling, it is only a computer!

-Ygab.

I just installed the workaround with the wakeonlan from readpixel and it seems to work perfectly. :smileywink:

So for me there is no need to wait any longer for a solution from buffalo. Best to forget their useless NasNavigator. :smileymad:

My suggestion for the buffalo japan 'specialists' : Get in contact with the guys from readpixel, you can learn a lot from them, for example what I call a great support. (They responded to my email request within one day - I am still waiting for a reaction from you !)

The workaround also works great here. The hell with NAS Navigator

Thank you, guys, for pointing out the Wake On Lan software. Pity it took another company to make the Linkstation Pro work fully.

One problem I'm having is that the WOL program will only let me repeat "wake" signals to the NAS every 5 minutes. It won't let me send as frequently as every 2 minutes, and I noticed that someone else on this forum suggested that interval. As I'm sitting here watching the thing work, even at every 5 minutes, the thing's falling asleep.

Anyone else having this problem with WakeOnLan and the Buffalo NAS?

Thanks!

JRMYEH,

This is easy,

Your export the settings of WOL (-> Host -> Export)

Then, you open that file in a text editor (TextEdit)

You replace the 5 by a 2 at the end of the line referring to your NAS

You import the new settings in WOL.... it works.

I got an mail exchange with the author of Wake On Line; he said he you change the minimum time someday.

A very nice guy.

However, I had several crashes of WOL. Just need to restart it... So this is not THE solution, just a band-aid!

I had the same problem, but the guys from readpixel sent me this solution:

1. In WakeOnLan, setup your NAS for scheduled wake up each 15 min
2. Quit WakerOnLan
3. In Finder, goto Library/Preferences
4. Open file com.readpixel.wakeonlan.hosts.plist in Property Editor
5. Select Hosts, then find your NAS, and change it's Timer value to 1
6. Save the plist file, then restart WakeOnLan

By the way, until now I didn't have any problems with WOL crashes.

These days i found the Software nasnavi 2.22 with support for 10.6

But if i start the Application, Nasnavi searches for a Station and there comes an unexpected error.

From your home directory go to Library/Preferences and look for al file named com.readpixel.wakeonlan.hosts.plist.

Double Click on that file and it will open with the Property List  Editor.

Now go to Hosts and find your NAS.

You will find an entry 'Timer'. Change the corresponding value to 2.

Exit and save the file, that's it.

If you have still problems, give me your email and I can send you a screenshot
