Web Access with Linkstation Live LS-CH 1.0TB
« on: August 19, 2009, 10:35:28 PM »

Having some issues with my Linkstation Live LS-CH 1.0TB and Billion 7300g Router.

No luck with logging in via the web. I can access from my wireless at home but not elsewhere.

Have Port 9000 forward on the router. Not sure what else to do from here?

Could a firewall on the router be the issue?

What steps should I take next?

Cheers,

Steve

I am running OS 10.4 on an iMac. Also using the Linkstation on my PS3 as a media server.

All going into my Billion 7300g Wireless Router via Ethernet.

Doubtful.  Go to canyouseeme.org and check to see if the port is open.

Had this message come up:

Error: I could not see your service on 220.244.172.3 on port (9000)
Reason: Connection timed out

Could somone give me a hand with forwarding the ports?

These are the current settings on the router:

UDP

Public Port Start = 9000

Public Port End = 9000

Mapped Private IP = address of linkstation 192.168.1.XXX

Mapped Private Port = 9000

Is this correct?

Should I enable UPnP? Should that port be 9000 too?

Anything to do with static IP?  Or DHCP?

Keep the UPNP disabled.  Make sure the external port is 9000.  It looks like you have the ports opened up correctly.  Are you getting the login for your username/password when you go to buffalonas.com and type in the name of the unit?  If you are then its setup correctly you might be doing something wrong with your username and password.

Make a new user with the name "test" and make the password "test" also.  Give us a call and we can check it for you.

When I go to Buffalonas.com I only get to type in the name of the unit. No username/password. Is that something I set up in Linkstation?
