You can find the necessary firmware files here:
http://buffalo.jp/support_ap/support/products/ts_htgl_r5.html

You can use those files to install the firmware either with TFTP or by copying the files directly to one of the disks:
https://buffalonas.miraheze.org/wiki/Restoring_Stock_Firmware_via_TFTP
https://buffalonas.miraheze.org/wiki/Restoring_Stock_Firmware_without_TFTP

I haven't tried either method on this model yet, but here's an article showing someone doing it on this generation of device (10+ years ago now):

OH. MY. GOODNESS.

Do you realize what you've done??? You've captured the elusive TFTP boot file for posterity! I can't tell you how long I've tried to find that file...it's been YEARS.

Here it's been all this time. Buffalo have decided to eliminate the file from the product page, and now it's a rare sight. Now I can fix my busted box.

THANK YOU SKINNER.

I've been trying to de-mystify those files since they are no longer officially available. They are just the normal boot files from the device's firmware and a TFTP utility. The same thing can be obtained from the firmware updater and used with any TFTP application.

Information about doing so van be found here:
