Linkstation lschl and twonky

Help

I have buffalo linkstation lschl which I thought had died 5 years ago.

For some reason it stopped appearing on the network and i wasn't able to access any of my data, none of my shared folders were visible. I thought the hDD was corrupt.

I plugged it in today as I've just had another NAS drive fail. My drive is visible on the navigator but not on the network.

The drive then appeared as a windows media player (pv connect) and I was able to play some of my old media that I thought I has lost.

I then discovered I was able to browse my drive with something called Twonky that appeared when I popped the IP address in my browser.

1. Is twonky the reason my drive is no longer visible on the network and I can't easily access my files.
2. How can I access this data other than using twonky.

I thought I'd lost all my old photographs so ideally would like to download these

Thanks

Jon

Most likely the device is using SMBv1 but your operating system has SMBv1 disabled for security reasons. Twonky probably works because that is a different protocol.

Thank you so much, I can't thank you enough its worked a treat.

I feel a bit of a idiot that I didn't come here when it happened originally.

Thanks for your help yesterday.

I'm now trying to update the firmware from 1.07 to 1.73 but the updater software is not seeing the drive...any ideas?

There are two different devices called LS-CHL with different firmware that use different numbering. I believe the latest firmware for your device is the one labeled as 1.12.

This page has both sets of firmware and a note about the difference:
