Linkstation live install on ubuntu only network
« on: August 06, 2019, 05:07:53 am »
Hello,

I have just purchased a linkstation live (320gb) which i am trying to configure using ubuntu only machines.  I have an orange livebox router which the linkstation is connected to.  The problem i have is that i dont know the IP address of the linkstation, or its default netbios name to try and setup samba shares or to connect to the webinterface.

thanks
iosman

NasNavigator and LSupdater from the firmware updater have a way of detecting linkstations on the network which would tell you the IP address.

You can probably find it by scanning for the web interface using nmap:
apt-get install nmap
nmap -p80 --open 192.168.1.*

most routers also have a section which displays attached devices.
