I know that most users would like the Drivestation Flexnet (or 2share) to be able to use a different file system (other than fat32) and still have the LAN feature work.  I am not sure how possible it is but I thought I'd throw that out there since there wasn't any requests posted.

Group,

I know some of the reason for wishing for LAN + non FAT32 format is because of file size limits however if you only plan to use LAN mode (no USB) then the FAT32 file size limits don't apply.

From the User Manual.

"With a LAN connection, the maximum file size is 127 GB. Files larger than 4
GB will not be accessable from the USB interface.

With a USB connection, the maximum file size is 4 GB."

So LAN mode does allow file copying/creating of >4GB however USB mode does
not AND files already on the drive that are >4GB will not be accessible in
USB mode. I have successfully copied 5+GB files to the Flexnet over my home network (i.e. LAN mode). Takes forever compared to USB but it does work.

I'm not sure how you had that success, but I know many customers who were not able to transfer files larger than 4 GB via LAN.

Hello,

I'd really like the ability to use the ext3 filesystem over ethernet.

I am running GNU/Linux on all my systems (no MS Windows anywhere).  I much prefer the increased reliability of the ext3 journaling filesystem over fat32.  This feature would also resolve FAT32 to ext3 compatibility issues with file ownership and permissions, and significantly reduce fragmentation issues too.  Lastly, many GNU/Linux distributions offer DVD ISO's, which of course exceed FAT32's 4GB file size limitation.  So I'd be thrilled to see this happen.

Model: HD-CE1.0TLU2

Firmware: BUF-CELU2-1.4.7 LOADER 3.5W1.9

Purchased in USA, but I'm in Canada

Thanks!

Robo

Utils that allow the removal of the CDFS partiton that seems to installed on a number of newer drives.

(Below are two of note)

Buffalo HD-CX1.5TU2 (-EU)

Buffalo HD-PX500U2/BLK

I would currently like to buy more of these drives but the prospect of having a CDFS partiton per drive I install is not ideal.

Yes a X-MAS wishlist

1. costumer must on his own change or modify the Virtual Buffalo Cdrom image file

2. use the pre-loaded cdrom as a emergeny boot system, f.e. BartPE with a choiche menu or drive navigator or whats ever

3. if there more partitions they must be seperate decrypt, f.e. if you borrow the HDD to a freind you dont have to chat the password

and buffalo think about it,, the marked is now short
