SMB Issue
« on: June 18, 2019, 05:53:35 AM »
Morning Guys, I support a client with an LS220. Now everything was fine until their W10 machines updated to 1809 which obviously disables SMB1. No issues to re-enable on clients which I have done, and this successfully allows access. However, the NAS is set to allow SMB2 and this is obviously not working... Anyone any ideas as to why SMBv2 isnt working between the client/NAS? Its running the latest firmware if that helps?

Confused,

Chris

  • There's no problem so bad you cannot make it worse

Try rebooting the device to ensure the smb2 change takes effect.

Cheers - I will give it a reboot - you never know, but I did set this to SMBV2 at installation, ie 5 months ago, it isnt that I reset that option this morning when this fault appeared. Will try anyway, its the usual IT fix anyway :-)

Best Regards,

Chris

OK - rebooted and disabled SMBv1 on client end - still no connection. The Microsoft error msg mentions the connection to the NAS requiring SMBv1 so I reckon that the NAS box and the Microsoft implementation of the SMBv2 protocol are somehow not compatible..... It isnt a major issue to leave it at SMBv1 but its annoying :-)
