Hi, Is it possible to install only one disk an a two disk NAS and use it for back up?
The NAS in question is a Buffalo LS520DE EU LinkStation 520D 2 Bay Desktop NAS Enclosure.

There's no problem so bad you cannot make it worse

The 520 boots from it’s internal flash and is pretty flexible regarding it’s drive configuration. I don’t remember everything I’ve tried with it off hand.
I can try it with one blank drive in mine sometime tomorrow if that will help.

Yes, you can install and operate on a single disk without any problems.

Hi, I just tried it and with one disk inserted into the NAS it set itself up as raid 1 and has worked fine. Thanks for the advice everyone.
