Swaping drives from LS-WV4 to LS520D without losing data
« on: February 02, 2019, 03:34:45 PM »
Hi all,
My LS WV4.0 setup RAID I died. I Have a LS 520-D diskless enclosure to swap the drives into. During the setup, the GUI wants to set up RAID and I am afraid of losing my data. My hope was there is someway around the standard setup process for the new LS 520 that would allow me to get to my data.

Is there such a path?
Thank you!

Changing disks from different units will erase the data.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Bummer.  Any suggestions on how to retrieve the data from the HDD?
Thank you,

  • There's no problem so bad you cannot make it worse

connect the drives to a linux system
make sure mdadm and xfs_progs is installed
start the raid array (this will likely happen automatically)
mount the xfs filesystem on the raid array
copy the data somewhere safe

then you can setup the ls520 and copy the data back to it.

that all assumes the drives are healthy and nothing you've done so far hasn't reformated/repartitioned the drives.
