Web Access / Multi user access issues
« on: July 13, 2009, 03:16:55 AM »

hi,

im hoping that someone can assist me here on a couple of issues...

  1.  ignore this - i figured out what was wrong... but still would love some feedback on the sidenote below.  Web access does not update "live" for folders and files. ie I can login 'on-site' or 'off-site' no problems, but when i update files or folders it does not show locally on the network the new files, or if i change the files locally it does not show on the web access. seems to be running almost of a 'cached' version or similar - very bizzare - ive tried logging in & refreshing the page to reload the data but this doesnt help - side note: is there a "log off" section on the web access or is it just when you close the webpage?  doesnt seem very secure.
  2. i had 4 user accounts setup for access; 2 admin & 2 staff.  whether or not i login with an admin or staff login; the same folders are shown.  is this perhaps something in the folder permissions?  i've checked which user accounts & groups are allowable for Read/Write & Read Only.

eg.    If I login with the [Admin rights] user:  JSmith    i can see only "Application forms" and "Jones Clients"  - there should be 2 more folders "Admin" and "Client data"

if I login with [user rights/read only] user:    AJones        i can only "Application forms" and "Jones Clients"

any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Nic

edit:   I am running Vista & have a Linkstation Pro Duo 2tb.

all folder access permissions are "use inherited ..... "

Allowed Access to Read/Write is 'AFP_Admin' & Read Only is 'Consultant'

By "shown" do you mean shown or accessible? The folders will not be hidden.

As your side note, it depends on the unit! If there is no "Log Out" button, then yes, it should log out after closing the browser.
