LS420 Bad Firmware Update, How to flash Directly
« on: May 19, 2018, 11:01:52 PM »
Hello, so I found our old LS420 and decided to set it up (it got around a year of use then got disconnected for some reason, we just never got around to hooking it back up). So I hook it up and go to start  setting it all up and it says "firmware update available". I go ahead and do it, then the web management page looses connection and it never comes back. when the device reboots, the red light on front is blinking and connecting to the "settings" address just gives a white screen. from best I can tell, the firmware failed to flash correctly. Is there a way I can flash it directly myself? I cant seem to find a way to do it that doesnt require being able to connect to it. I'd assume theres a way to hook it up directly to my PC but I cant find one.

What errors do you get from the NAS Navigator?
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

"the link station is in an error state" or something along those lines, as when I dug deeper I saw something about the raid array needing to be rebuit, but I checked both drives and they are fine.

So again, what exact errors do you get from the NAS Navigator? Sounds like the NAS Navigator is reporting a failed disk, if this is the case then you need to replace the disk.

well it WAS that the unit is in an error state. now its not  even showing up in nas navigator (or on the network at all) and all I have is the 7 flashes on the unit.

You need to replace disk1 then run the TFTP boot loader to get the unit operational again. Basically the OS needs to be reinstalled.

Then you need to delete the RAID and create a new RAID in the advanced settings -> Drives -> RAID section.

Error:
E14: Cannot mount RAID array 1.

This error means the RAID and the data is already gone, you were probably using RAID0 instead of RAID1. Do you have a backup?

Can you post a picture of what you do see when you try to access the admin page?

took a screen shot but can't attach by attachments link. How can I send picture of Admin screen and of the storage page showing both discs.

The new hard drive 1 in status column  - error
hard drive 1 2 showing in status column  - array 1
