LinkStation LS410D - x7 Red Flashes Issue?
« on: February 07, 2018, 10:18:05 AM »
Hi,

I've just noticed I can no longer access my LinkStation LS410D.  When I took a look at the box I noticed it was flashing red, it flashes red x7 times then pauses and continues to flash in the same sequence.  I've googled it and 'I think' it's a critical HDD issue??  Assuming this is the case, is there anything that can be done in order to retrieve the information on the discs or even be repaired completely?

Thanks in advance.

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup

It sounds like the drive in the unit has failed. If it's under warranty Buffalo will replace it. If the data on it is not backed up anywhere and you need it back you will likely need to send it to a data recovery service.

Thanks.  Do you know when this change came in only my device is probably 5-6 years old now?

When the 200/400 series was introduced 5-6 years ago.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

So to be clear, what you're saying is the x7 flashes might not actually refer to a failed drive in this instance?
Thanks

It actually means the OS cannot be loaded but this be as a result of a failed HDD. You won't know until you go through the TFTP process. If you do go through it and the updater says format failed then you know it's the disk causing the issue.

Very easy.
1. Install the tool on a windows pc
2. shut down
3. connect one drive on a free sata port
4. start your pc an open the tool
