Reload system image and recovery on TS5400
« on: January 13, 2018, 07:22:18 am »
I have a dead TS5400 and talked to a Buffalo Tech on how to get it back.  I know all data is lost.  Here are the steps he had me do so far.

1. Downloaded the image ISO to a USB stick
2. Pulled each of the drives and put in a docking station, ran CrystalDiskInfo on each to make sure the Health Status was good
3. Performed a diskpart clean on each drive
4. Switch to boot from USB and started the TS5400 up

The NAS booted and went directly into a screen on the LCD that says
Recovery    I37
Systemrecovering

The TS5400 has been at that state for about 15 hours now, how long can this possibly take?!!   Is this normal or do I have a dead NAS?
Any help is appreciated.

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup

it should have said "press function button for recovery" or something to that affect. Try holding the function button until you get a beep and see what it does. The recovery should take less than an hour.
