Connecting Buffalo NAS TS5410 to AWS Glacier instead of S3
« on: November 10, 2017, 10:21:04 AM »
Hi,

My company is looking into options for backing up our TeraStation's off prem.

I am aware that the there is an option to integrated to the Amazon S3 cloud service. However, I was wondering if there was a way to back up to Amazon Glacier instead of using S3?

We are a SMB and data will not have to retrieved very often so cold storage would be a better option for us.

Thank you.

Not as far as I'm aware.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

TeraStation products can currently only sync to Amazon S3 or DropBox. This may change in the future as we look at customer feedback.

Hmm. alright

Could I backup to S3 from an older terastation like this one?

We also have this one on site: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/en/products/storage-devices/business-nas/terastationtm/archive/ts-xel-terastation-es/

If not, do you know of any other options? We would like to backup out TS-XEL's as well.

Older TeraStations don't have this ability. You could back up the older TeraStations to a newer TeraStation and then sync that backup job to S3.

That won't work without setup unfortunately... they are the same size and exist on two separate networks and contain different data.

Is vendor integration even necessary? Couldn't I just back the data using the rsync utility?
