LS-WXL4FD E14 & E16 error
« on: November 10, 2017, 02:11:55 AM »
Dear all,

in the company we just changed the backup software for 4 computers to Cobian Backup 11 Gravity (incremental, daily).
After 1-2 weeks of usage, there was an error blinking on the NAS device (LS-WXL4FD).
We can see an error in the navigator:
E14: Cannot mount RAID array 1.
E16: Drive 1 not found

Please advise ASAP, how can we fix it to be able to use the NAS device again?
NAS device is always ON (not Auto mode).

Thank you and kind regards.

Looks like you have a disk failure and you left the unit in RAID0, if wouldn't be anything to do with the software you're using.

Do you have a backup?

You will need to replace disk1, then delete and recreate the RAID.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi Davo,

thanks fo quick reply!
No, we don't have any backup of this one ... only the local machines (with the same folders and files).

If I understand you, we should buy the same disk as disk 1, then go to NAS IP/LinkStation Network Attached Storage > System > Storage > Raid Array > Delete Raid Array?
They in the same settings recreate it?

Best regards.

From my chair if the unit is getting to the age where one drive failed (LS-WX is a minimum of 4 years old), you might consider a replacement unit.

Whatever you decide, remember that if you can't absorb the loss of the data on the NAS, running a RAID set and a good backup of the system is key. It appears that the data isn't so important though, since you still have the production systems.

**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**

Hi Eastmarch,

thanks for your reply.
I'll try to find exact the same disk unit and replace it - hopefully we'll recover the data on the NAS.
Unit is 3 years old.

I'll report back when I'll replace it.

Best regards.

It doesn't need to be the exact same disk, just the same specs, size, capacity, RPM and cache. The make / manufacturer doesn't need to be the same.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I just f**** up everything in this NAS ... It took me several hours to flash this NAS and update the firmware + figure it out what it still doesnt work.
Don't know what I did, but now I manage to enter it again.
Please help me bring back Disk 1 (new disk):
