Mapped drive access from web (LS520D)
« on: August 16, 2017, 04:05:33 AM »
Hi!

I have mapped My LS520D drive to my computer as "Y:" drive.
And of course, via LAN that folder is accessible.

But is there any way to access My new Y: drive from outside of LAN?
It would be wonderful to have feature like mapped Google Drive with this NAS.
Files would be instantly available, without using web interface.

If anyone have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. =)

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup

Since the network share is accessed using the SMB protocol it cannot be mapped unless you are on the local network. That is the nature of an SMB share is true for any network file share. You can access the files remotely using the WebAccess feature but that won't function the same as a mapped drive.

You could create a VPN. A lot of routers do a VPN function. Once you get an IP on your network, then you could do it.
